Dear editor,
Here we go again (“Solmar seeks redesignation and panhandle access at Rand Estate,” The Lake Report, Aug. 28).
Even though both the town of NOTL and the Ontario Land Tribunal have already rejected his previous development proposal and suggested instead a re-evaluation (with the tribunal also dismissing a later attempt by him to appeal their decision), Mr. Marotta again seeks an opportunity to make another attempt in his favour.
This time, it appears that the focus of Mr. Marotta at the moment is to establish a site-specific exception to the means of access for his planned future development.
The various existing means of access to the development, with their physical, heritage and historical limitations, have been studied at great length by experts in these fields and their opinions and comments were considered and taken into account in the rejection.
In my opinion, the current attempt by Mr. Marotta to impose his will on others regardless is just another example of his well-known attitude toward the residents of NOTL and is a clear indicator of his own self-interest being served at the expense of the heritage and historical values of NOTL.
