There was some sharp shooting in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club’s competitive leagues last week.

James Grigjanis-Meusel, runner-up in the Open division of the men’s club championships, had the hottest hand, firing a 1-under 35 in Thursday’s men’s league.

He was a model of consistency with eight pars plus a birdie on #6.

The ever-steady Jim Meszaros was second, two shots back at 37.

That also earned him second low net score, one behind Colby Ostromecki’s net 33.

Other men’s day winners were: Jared Mines (longest drive on #1) and Ken Porter (longest putt made on #5).

Closest to the pin prizes went to Mike Eagen (#4) and Paul Dickson (#9).

Harry Huizer’s birdie on #8 proved lucrative, earning him $110 as the day’s sole gross skin.

Net skins worth $95 each went to John Liotta (#3), Ostromecki (#5) and Nino Ferrantelli (#7).

Women’s Open club champ Diana Dimmer led all competitors in Tuesday’s 18-hole women’s league, with a score of 87.

May Chang was next with 95, while Carroll Baker, Lisa Allen and Judy Mantle all tied for third with 98.

Chang won low net honours (69), followed by Dimmer (71) and Mantle (73).

Suzanne Watson had another solid round in Tuesday’s nine-hole women’s league, leading the way with a solid 43.

Sharron Marlow was second with 47, one shot ahead of Sue Sherk.

Julie Smethurst was low net winner with 30, followed by Marlow (32) and Watson (33).
