Dear editor:

Nice to hear some positive news about Benny Marotta. Perhaps all those that both openly as well as anonymously dragged the Marotta family name through years of mud and by an unwarranted and malicious public smear campaign can now step up and offer to pay their fair share of any compensatory damages that may be awarded by the courts in the defamation case.

They can also pony up a proportional share of my property taxes to cover the costs associated with all the town costs wasted in advancing unnecessary objections to Marotta’s King Street hotel, the gorgeous new Stone Eagle Winery, and the beautifully-designed Rand Estate — projects that all privately owned properties funded by Marotta supporting stunning new developments with significant tax base infusions that have been delayed by nimcompoops.

Marotta brings new jobs as well, which could come in handy for all those who may need a new hobby besides beating up on the Marotta family.

I truly hope that the Marotta family walks tall and keeps moving forward with more local projects, but under less hostile conditions.

I also like the humour in all of this.
