Dear editor:

In a former life, I was an international corporate turnaround consultant and former business owner. Accordingly, I respectfully, totally disagree with Mr. George Herman’s letter from Sept. 17 in The Lake Report, proposing a complete house-cleaning of our elected officials, the lord mayor and council members, and replacing them with a slate of rookies.

Company and institutional cultural changes and turnaround situations never, ever pivots around the directions of a new, 100 per cent rookie management structure. Complete house-cleaning, when necessary, is driven by seasoned professionals with proven track records and astute mentoring skills.

In summation, while our frustrations may make us feel good by “throwing all the bums out,” so to speak, such a result would be an unmitigated disaster.

Accordingly, we must elect a blend of new with a very select minority and seasoned old-guard members, who can impart their knowledge and mentor the new rookie members to grow in their new positions.
