Getting around Niagara-on-the-Lake without a car is about to get easier on Sundays.
Starting Sept. 6, NOTL’s Niagara Transit Plus microtransit service will run on Sundays and statutory holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., bringing service to days when it previously wasn’t available.
The change will also extend Sunday and holiday service to regional bus routes for Niagara College’s NOTL campus and the Outlet Collection at Niagara.
“The new Sunday and holiday service beginning Sept. 6 will include Niagara-on-the-Lake’s (Niagara Transit) Plus microtransit service,” Niagara Transit spokesperson Ashley Archer-Gooden told The Lake Report.
“Additionally, the new Sunday and holiday service will apply to the regional routes serving both the Niagara College NOTL campus and the Outlet Collection at Niagara.”
Service will run on Sundays and statutory holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The NOTL expansion is part of a wider move by Niagara Transit to offer service seven days a week across the region.
The transit agency says Sunday service has been one of the most common requests from riders and will give people more flexibility to get to work, visit family and friends or travel around Niagara.
Sunday and holiday schedules and frequencies may differ from weekday and Saturday service, so Niagara Transit is encouraging riders to check their route and schedule before travelling.
Complete schedules for all routes are expected to be available online in September.
