Dear editor:

Thank you for an incredible community Terry Fox Run on Sunday, Sept, 20. Over 300 people came together in hope and determination to carry on Terry’s dream of a world without cancer.

Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa brought greetings on behalf of the town. Amber Dyck and her daughter Megan were present and spoke of the impact of the research of immunotherapy through precision oncology from the Terry Fox Foundation. It has helped to extend the life of Megan who was able to celebrate her 17th birthday.

Amber’s emotional poem “The Unrung Bell” was a heartfelt message that left many in tears.

As people participated, they showed their generosity and compassion by donating close to $90,000 for cancer research and a belief in better outcomes for cancer patients.

Thank you to all the volunteers, participants and our community businesses, Sandtrap Bar and Grill, Tim Hortons, Epp Family Farms, Quiet Acres, Walkers Country Market and the Lewiston-Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club for adding to the success of this worthwhile fundraiser.

“Even if I dont finish it, we need others to keep it going”

Let’s continue it Sunday, Sept. 19, 2027.
