Welland encouraging residents to come out for Wibit Weekend

The city of Welland wants to get residents out to the Lincoln Street Docks this weekend for two days of fun on the waterway.

Families are invited to head down to the Welland Recreation Corridor for “Wibit Weekend” to have some fun on the city's inflatable Wibits.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to experience the waterway and enjoy this invaluable asset that's right in their own backyards,” said Richard Dalton, manager of recreation and culture, in a city press release.

City staff also encourage participants to bring a picnic lunch and spend the day.

Lifeguards will be on the premises to keep families safe while on the water. Children must be six years of age or older to participate and must wear lifejackets.

A variety of lifejacket sizes will be available on site.

Limited parking is also available on site, and free parking is also designated at the King Street Arenas, located at 501 King St.

The event is free and open to the public.
