Niagara Falls-based pop band Liteyears will host a fundraising show for their new EP on August 10 at Taps Brewery in Niagara Falls, to raise money for band members to fly to Vancouver (or maybe Los Angeles) to record an EP with Juno Award winning producer Brian Howes.
The band, comprised of members Brent Wirth, Brian Wirth, Matt Anthony and Nick Haberer, was recently given the opportunity to work with Howes and couldn’t pass it up, said Anthony.
Howes has worked with artists like Chad Kroeger and the late Chris Cornell.
“We believe this will be the right step in taking not only our product but ourselves as a collective to the next level,” Anthony said.
The night, headlined by Liteyears, will see three other Niagara acts perform — Avenue Inn, Tuscany and RIUS.
Anthony said he and the band are looking forward to showcasing their music with other local bands, noting this is actually the first time Liteyears has played locally. The band, though comprised of members from Niagara Falls, has been tackling the Toronto music scene.
“We’ve been breaking our way into the Toronto and large scale festival scene as a way to share our music with as many people as possible.”
Since forming in 2015 the band has been climbing the ladder of the music industry, having been signed by Toronto’s Slaight Music and been featured on CTV’s The Launch.
Anthony said it’s the band’s “catchy pop melodies and vibrant light show” that makes them unique.
Anthony, the band’s drummer, also puts in a lot of time on the business end to promote them.
“I think collectively as a band it’s important to operate like a business. If you want to be big you have to do big things,” Anthony said.
“There’s a time to work smart and there’s a time to work hard and I think being in an industry that is changing so much everyday, that you have to do booth at the same time.”
Anthony is responsible for putting together the fundraiser, which he hopes will draw some people out to see what kind of talent Niagara has to offer.
The show starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. If it rains, the show will be moved inside Taps and will start at 9 p.m. and run until midnight.

RIUS: 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Tuscany Music: 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Liteyears: 9:20 p.m. to 10 p.m.
