Dear editor:

When I first read Emily Ratovsky’s lengthly diatribe on her definition of hate, settler-colonial violence, racism and other weaponized name-calling, my first reaction was to not comment and recycle. That didn’t work (“Letter: We must uproot the hate infiltrating our community,” Sept. 3).

Canada is no longer a country of freedom. CBC is financed by our taxes, so no unbiased reporting. Algorithms are programmed to eliminate words and opinions not aligned with leftist ideology.

I do not want anymore censorship from officials elected to control the infrastructure of this municipality.

I am an adult. I will decide what I watch, listen to and attend. Young families are also made up of adults who are perfectly capable of determining what they read, listen to, attend and eat and drink for that matter.

If the Dominion Society can rent a venue, then no other elected or self-appointed morality sheriff has the right to demand elected officials ban them.

Here’s a really novel concept. If you don’t want to attend, don’t. If you don’t like certain music, don’t listen to it. If you don’t like a certain food, don’t eat it.

Grownups don’t need yet another gov-a-mommy or gov-a-daddy.
