Two local sports leaders will be honoured later this month as the newest inductees into Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Sports Wall of Fame.
The town is inducting Gary Friesen and Kurt Hamm into its Sports Wall of Fame at the Meridian Credit Union Arena in Virgil and will honour them at a ceremony on Friday, Aug. 21.
Friesen played hockey for the Oshawa Generals, Sudbury Wolves and Brock Badgers and lacrosse for the Niagara Thunderhawks.
He achieved success at the junior and provincial levels before coming back to NOTL to work as a coach, mentor and volunteer.
Hamm, meanwhile, has spent the last 40 years coaching youth soccer and supporting community sport.
The ceremony begins at 5 p.m., with a reception to follow. The Meridian Credit Union Arena is located at 1567 Four Mile Creek Rd.
