Letter: Support animal rescue efforts with greenery donations
Tanya Rice at CIFAR's holiday market last December at Reif Estate Winery. PAIGE SEBURN

Dear editor:

Community Initiative for Animal Rescue (CIFAR) is a NOTL-based not-for-profit organization; we are 100 per cent volunteer-driven. We provide funding to animal rescue organizations that fall short of their fundraising efforts or have emergency veterinary expenses.

For several years, our members and volunteers have cut fresh boughs from the property located at 448 Line 2 Rd. Unfortunately, the trees have been removed for a housing project.

Fresh greenery is scarce and overpriced (due to the fires), as a nonprofit, we cannot afford to purchase fresh boughs. We’re hoping to source from NOTL properties — we donate 100 per cent to animal rescue.

I’m reaching out to the public for their support: kindly consider allowing our volunteers to cut (gently and respectfully) boughs (conifer trees) from properties for our annual Christmas planter fundraiser.

We’d also gladly accept drop-offs beginning Nov. 17, or a volunteer would be only too happy to collect.

We make roughly 60-75 planters each Christmas. 100 per cent of the proceeds are donated to animal rescue.

Anyone wishing to donate conifer cuttings can contact Tanya Rice, 905-468-2402 or via email, brownspoint4@hotmail.com.
