While watching news coverage of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Niagara-on-the-Lake resident Harry Hearth penned this short poem in honour of D-Day and in honour of the men and women who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today.Â
Â
No more grieving mothers and wives wearing black diamond patches on their coats,
No more conversation about Mr. Smith, who lived in #21, being gassed at the Somme,
No more stories about our math teacher telling the class how it was being a prisoner of war,
No more of my pal having no Dad.
No More War.
