Start the new year with a big bang at annual levee at Navy Hall
Friends of Fort George director Tony Chisholm will be the official cannoneer at the 2024 New Year's Day Levee.

Looking to start your new year off with a bang?

Look no further than the annual New Year’s Day Levee at Navy Hall.

Hosted by the Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada, friends and neighbours can enjoy refreshments, a roaring fire and a traditional cannon firing.

This year NOTL resident and Friends of Fort George director Tony Chisholm will be the official cannoneer.

“(Chisholm) has been an invaluable part of the Friends of Fort George for over 10 years, as both a volunteer and board member and more recently as president of the board,” said a news release from the Friends of Fort George.

“His continuous dedication and support of the Friends of Fort George ensures that we can continue to support Parks Canada in preserving, protecting and presenting Niagara’s national historic sites.”

The celebration is at Navy Hall on Jan. 1, from 3 to 4 p.m., and “carries on an old tradition of citizens gathering together to pledge allegiance to our sovereign, to renew old acquaintances and raise a toast to the continued prosperity of our nation,” the organization said.
