There will be plenty of opportunities to stay cool and get active — or both — this summer in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with pools and outdoor facilities set to open their doors this month.
The Splash Pad in Virgil opened Saturday, giving families and kids the chance to beat the heat as the weather gets hotter.
Other spots in the town are set to open later in June.
The following facilities are opening on the following dates:
- Splash pad (1565 Four Mile Creek Rd., Virgil Sports Park): opened on Saturday, June 1
- Niagara pool (370 King St.): Saturday, June 15
- Pickleball courts (1565 Four Mile Creek Rd., Virgil Sports Park): The week of June 24
- St. Davids pool (1446 York Rd.): Saturday, June 29
- Wading pool (25 Picton St., Simcoe Park): Saturday, June 29
Additional outdoor amenities and facilities are open and ready for use, including public washrooms throughout the town, the skatepark, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, the Queen’s Royal Park gazebo, baseball diamonds and soccer fields at Memorial Park and the Virgil Sports Park.
“Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for its beautiful, exceptionally maintained parks and facilities, and we take great pride in offering residents and visitors access to these spaces,” Lord Mayor Gary Zalepa said in a media release.
“We hope that everyone will take advantage of the many opportunities available to them and make unforgettable memories this summer.”
To help you make the most of your visit, the town has a parks Locator tool highlighting the different amenities available at each location, making it easier to plan your outdoor activities.
“The Niagara-on-the-Lake Team has been working hard to ensure that all parks, facilities and amenities are ready to be enjoyed this summer,” said acting chief administrative officer Bruce Zvaniga.
