Niagara Transit wants residents to help shape its future by reviewing four transit plans and sharing feedback on them through a survey.
Each plan offers a different proposal to improve transit.
Among the proposed options are three options which include expanded transit to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The plans consider service hours, travel time, frequency, routes and cost — areas the public has been struggling with.
Residents can see the plans and share feedback at NRTransit.ca before Feb. 14 or at an in-person session at the NOTL Community Centre on Feb. 4.
On Wednesday, the federal government announced more than $35 million in transit funding for the Niagara Region through the Canada Public Transit Fund.
Niagara will receive the funding ($35,659,510) over ten years from 2026 to 2036.
Riders in Niagara-on-the-Lake have had trouble booking trips, especially for people with accessibility needs, since July 2, 2024, when Niagara Transit’s consolidated system of NRT OnDemand and Niagara Specialized Transit switched to Voyago.
