We can’t all have the smooth and soothing vocals of Nat King Cole or hit the high notes like Mariah Carey, but when it comes to the best Christmas songs all that matters is enjoying the time with family and friends.
That’s what Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Carolling in the Park is all about.
Chautauqua Park will be the scene for this free event happening on Friday, Dec. 13.
“Come enjoy holiday refreshments, carolling, live music and a horse-drawn sleigh ride for the children,” said Weston Miller, president of the Chautauqua Residents Association, adding there will be an appearance from Santa Claus himself.
Residents are being encouraged to invite family, friends and neighbours.
The carolling will be accompanied by live music courtesy of musical trio Live at the Library from St. Catharines.
“If you would like to bring a lawn chair to sit in, it might be a bit more comfortable than the picnic tables or standing,” said Miller.
Miller also encouraged attendees to bring a flashlight as the park can get very dark at night and it will also help people read their songbooks.
There will also be free hot chocolate and marshmallows to cook over coal-burning cauldrons.
Non-perishable foods to donate to Newark Neighbours will be collected as well.
To see what food items are most needed, go to the Newark Neighbours website at newarkneighbours.ca/food-bank.
The carolling begins at 6:45 p.m.
