UPDATE: Douglas Memorial Site in Fort Erie is reopened.
Two men have been taken to an out-of-town trauma centre with “serious” injuries following an altercation in Fort Erie Friday night.
The incident involved a stabbing, after which the suspect was injured in an altercation with police.
Police said at around 7:50 p.m. officers were called to the urgent care centre at the Douglas Memorial Site in Fort Erie for reports of a stabbing.
Not long after the officers were on scene, they interacted with a male.
“As a result of that interaction, the male suffered a serious injury,” Niagara Regional Police Services said in a news release.
The officers involved were not injured in the interaction.
The Special Investigations Unit is involved.
The NRPS will be conducting a parallel investigation in conjunction with the SIU.
