Niagara launches online local business directory

Niagara economic development has introduced an online business directory to create an accesible source for businesses looking to improve their supply chain and promote Niagara businesses. The directory solely consists of local businesses, according to a news release.

“Often the solution to companies’ supply chain challenges are right here in our own community,” economic development director George Spezza said in a news release.

The directory is available for the public as well, with the hopes that it will encourage people to support local businesses.

“I anticipate that this new directory will help facilitate collaboration as we continue our road to recovery,” said regional chair Jim Bradley.

The directory was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was deemed necessary that the Niagara region “embrace new technology and creative solutions” as the pandemic continues create economic pressure, the news release says.

The region launched a similar project connecting businesses with regional PPE producers and suppliers.

Users can sort by municipality, business size, sector, and other options to make it easy to sift through the hundreds of businesses that are posted in the directory.

The directory can be accessed on the Niagara region website under the Niagara advantage heading.

If your business, or a local business you know of, is not represented on the website it can be added through contacting Niagara Economic Development at info@niagaracanada.com, or by calling 1-800-263-7215 and entering the extension 3520.
