Niagara-on-the-Lake is getting its own full-size LCBO store.
The new store will be located at 1561 Niagara Stone Rd. in Virgil and will be joined by a Tim Hortons franchise.
The development was announced in a news release from Greg Chew Commercial Real Estate on Thursday.
It will be the second LCBO location in Niagara-on-the-Lake, located at the former home of Niagara Credit Union.
In 2017, the empty building was demolished by the developer to prepare for construction, said a news release.
“The high traffic location along Hwy 55 is ideal for Niagara-on-the-Lake commercial real estate, such as retail, food services, or professional offices,” the release said.
“Residential neighbourhoods surrounding the site capture the locals, as well as the inevitable tourist traffic travelling back and forth from Niagara-on-the-Lake.”
The released pointed out that for a long time there has only been one small LCBO in the town, the next closest location being more than 20 minutes away in either Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.
The Tim Hortons location will be the third location in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the other two being in the Old Town on Mary St. and at the gateway centre on York Rd.
The plan for the new retail development also includes a 3,600 square foot building apart from the LCBO and Tim Hortons, currently for lease, with the option to be sectioned into three 1,200 square foot units; one 2,400 square foot unit and one 1,200 square foot unit; or one large 3,600 square foot space.
The news release said the development will present Virgil residents with closer retail options besides the local grocery store.
