A.N. Myer chosen as host school for OSBA team

A.N. Myer Secondary School has been chosen as an academic partner for the Niagara Girls Basketball Academy, as the DSBN and NGBA team up to try and bring an Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association team to the Niagara Region.

This will be the first time the association has partnered with the school board.

The partnership will see students on A.N. Myer’s OSBA team train with NGBA coaches during their academic year.

NGBA’s technical director Dave Picton said more information will be released in the following weeks.

The OSBA website says it is a premier league which aims to provide an elite level of competition and exposure to high school basketball athletes, as well as supporting young women in preparing for post-secondary, national, and international basketball competition.

NGBA is an Ontario basketball development program which aims to provide girls with the best opportunities to meet their basketball goals. The association typically offers summer basketball academies and winter basketball teams lead by coaches in the Niagara region.

A town-hall style meeting for those interested to get more information will be scheduled in the near future.

Story in development.
