UPDATE: additional charge in Fort Erie homicide

UPDATE: On Sunday police laid an additional charge against James Osborne, the 32-year-old Fort Erie man who was charged with second-degree murder on Saturday.

Osborne is now charged with the alleged offenses of second degree murder as well the added offence of causing an indignity to a dead human body, police say.

No further information was provided.

ORIGINAL: A man has been charged with the alleged offence of second-degree murder after police discovered human remains at a Fort Erie residence on Saturday.

At approximately 10 a.m., police say they received information which led them to check on the welfare of an individual at a property on Petit Rd. near Sunderland Dr.

Police said based on information received, an Emergency Tactical Unit and negotiators were deployed to the scene.

A male was taken into custody without incident at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Police said they expect to be on the property for several days processing the scene.

Investigators are working with medical experts to positively identify the victim.

Charged with the alleged office of second-degree murder is 32-year-old James Dylan Osborne of Fort Erie.

Osborne is in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Sunday at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton, via video link.
