An 86-year-old woman was behind the wheel when she mistakenly accelerated and crashed into the Royal Bank of Canada branch on Mary Street in Niagara-on-the-Lake last week.
The mishap caused more than $20,000 in damage to the building, Niagara Regional Police spokesperson Philip Gavin said in an email.
There was about $3,000 damage to the woman’s vehicle.
The unidentified driver, who is a NOTL resident, was “likely shaken up” but didn’t have any injuries that required treatment, Gavin told The Lake Report.
As the collision happened on private property, no charges were laid, he said.
