The Lord Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council held its first team building and leadership training workshop recently.

Along with Coun. Clare Cameron, the town’s engagement co-ordinator, Lauren Kruitbosch, and the region’s young adult peer leader, Hillary Fleming, students participated in sessions to learn about leadership strategies and engaged in team-building activities.

They also visited the Grape Escape Room where they applied their problem-solving skills.

The experience was “fantastic” and youth council chair Bethany Poltl said she learned a lot from other participants.

“It’s good to keep talking with your team and building that atmosphere with your team,” she said in a phone interview.

“Just learning what it’s like to be on the town council and different strategies we can implement at our own council to be more effective and reach the goals, which is providing a voice for youth in the town.”
