A Vineland-based towing company, JNE Recovery, used a 50-tonne wrecker and worked with a team of divers to pull a vehicle from the pond at the Sunshine Express Garden Centre last Friday morning.
Witnesses said an 80-year-old woman was driving the small SUV when it apparently went forward instead of reversing.
The driver was able to escape before the vehicle filled with water. She had a scrape on her knee but otherwise is feeling fine, said Jayne Hansen, the owner of JNE Recovery. It took less than an hour to fish the vehicle out, she said.
Niagara Regional Police said no charges have been laid.
