Collision in Niagara Falls claims life of 20-year-old woman

A single-vehicle collision in Niagara Falls has claimed the life of a 20-year-old female.

Police said the single-vehicle collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, when a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 22-year-old Jake Pirson, was heading west bound on Biggar Rd.

They said Pirson lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a number of small trees before coming to a stop on its roof in the ditch on the north side of Biggar Rd.

A 20-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Pirson and the two other passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Police are not releasing the name of the female victim at this time out of respect for the family.

Pirson has been charged with impaired driving causing death and will attend bail court on Monday morning.

This collision is still under police investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact the police at 905-688-4111, ext. 5500.
