Niagara Regional Police shut down part of downtown St. Catharines Saturday afternoon after reports of an armed male located in a 6th floor unit at the Leonard Hotel on St. Paul St.
Police were alerted to the danger around 4:45 p.m. and shut down part of the downtown core for approximately two hours while negotiators spoke with the man, identified as 41-year-old Brian Adshead.
Adshead was arrested at around 7:20 p.m. and is charged with two counts of mischief, both over and under $5,000.
Adshead was also previously wanted for uttering threats and for three counts of breach of probation in unrelated incidents. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on Sunday, via video link at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton.
