Wine and Words to host award-winning investigative journalist Tanya Talaga

Award-winning Toronto Star investigative journalist and acclaimed author Tanya Talaga is making her way to The Hare Wine Co. on Feb. 13.

Author of national bestseller and recipient of theĀ 2018 RBC Taylor Prize, Seven Fallen Feathers, she will appear as part of Wine and Words, organizedĀ by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library.

In her book, Talaga explores the human rights violations against indigenous communities in Thunder Bay, Ont., focusing on the tragic story of seven indigenous high school students who died between 2000 and 2011.

She will speak about Seven Fallen Feathers along with her other best-selling book All Our Relations: Finding The Path Forward, shining a light on Canadaā€™s cultural genocide and sharing her hope for an inclusive future.

Wine and Words is organizedĀ monthly by the library at various wineries across NOTL. The program seeks to pair a select wine from the host winery with celebrated authors, giving the audience an opportunity to hear the speaker and ask questions following the talk.

Tickets can be purchased through the NOTL Public Library for $25 and include entrance, a glass of wine and a food pairing. Doors open at 7 p.m.
