Brock Badgers men’s lacrosse headed to national championship

The Brock Badgers men's lacrosse team is hoping to continue the success of an undefeated season as they head to the first round of the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association playoffs.

The team will play their first game against the Laurier Golden Hawks on the Brock’s Alumni Field on Sunday at 1 p.m

The Badgers played a perfect 12-0 regular season this year, a record they haven't pulled off since 2009 when the team won the Baggataway Cup national championship. The team also set a CUFLA single-season record with 232 goals scored this year.

“We’re happy with the season we've had to date,” said first-year head coach Tim Luey. “Finishing 12-0 is no small feat, but going into the season our team goal was not just to go undefeated or finish first place. We have a group of veteran players that are excited to get back into the playoffs and compete for our real goal of a national championship.”

Five of the team's players made it into the top 25 CUFLA scorers, including Brandon Slade, who leads with a career-high of 86 points (28 goals, 58 assists) in 12 games, making him the second player in school history to record 300 points in a career. Tyrus Rehanek finished 12th in league with 46 points, while Kurtis Woodland had 39 points. Connor Ham had 34 points and rookie Connor Brown added 33.
