It’s been 10 years since Yellow Door Theatre Project was established in Niagara-on-the-Lake — and the group is marking the milestone with performances, music, food and fundraising this weekend.

Running April 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the NOTL Community Centre, attendees can watch performances by current and alumni Yellow Door members, along with live music from the Feverish Lemons, according to an April 17 media release from the organization.

Yellow Door, founded by Andorlie Hillstrom in 2015, is a non-profit theatre project that offers Niagara youth the opportunity to learn and hone their skills in musical theatre and other performing arts.

“This has been no small accomplishment,” said Hillstrom in an email to The Lake Report.

“The anniversary will give us all an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments we have made together and the impact the organization has had on the many participants and families that have been a part of our theatre family,” she added.

Hot and cold appetizers will be prepared by Events by Kirsten and a cash bar will be available. A silent auction, basket draw and other fundraising activities and prizes are also planned throughout the afternoon.

Shaw Festival ensemble member Travis Seetoo is scheduled to emcee.

However, the celebration goes beyond commemorating the theatre group and its members.

Yellow Door’s website states that the celebration is also to honour the community that has supported the organization throughout the years, such as parents, grandparents, friends, family, supporters, volunteers, donors and members of the audience.

Tickets are $45, general admission, and can be purchased at zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/yellow-door-10th-anniversary-celebration. Donations are also welcome and go toward the organization. The community centre is located at 14 Anderson Ln.
