83-year-old woman charged with fraud

An 83-year old woman from St. Catharines and a man who shares her last name have been charged with fraud in an ivestigation that dates back to 2011.

In April of 2011, Niagara Regional Police received a call about a stolen vehicle in the city of St. Catharines. The vehicle was not recovered.

An insurance claim was made for the vehicle and paid to the complainant.

On May 2, 2017, police found vehicle at a storage facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Charged in connection are eighty-three-year-old Juliette Grove and 51-year-old Jason Grove of St. Catharines, both with fraud over $5,000.

Additionally, Juliette was charged with public mischief.

She was released from custody on an appearance notice with a future court date.

Jason was held for a bail hearing on Saturday.
