Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada are inviting residents to join in celebrating the 29th annual New Year's Day Levee at Navy Hall on Jan. 1, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The annual tradition finds the community ringing in the New Year, gathering from across Niagara to renew old acquaintances over complimentary refreshments and enjoy a live musical performance by the Fort George's fife and drum band.

The firing of a cannon, the cannon salute, marks the free event, followed by official toasts at 4 p.m. in which attendees will partake in pledging allegiance to the Queen as they raise toast to the nation.
