What’s on this weekend as Niagara-on-the-Lake kicks off holiday season

Santa’s sleigh isn’t far off.

This weekend brings the first sweep of holiday events across Niagara-on-the-Lake, from carols in a tiny chapel to Santa photo sessions and a Sunday craft show at the Legion.

FRIDAY, NOV. 28

St. Davids Lions Club Annual Christmas Turkey Roll
7 p.m., St. Davids Lions Club, 1462 York Rd., St. Davids
The St. Davids Lions Club is bringing the holiday energy tonight with its annual Turkey Roll — prize draws, Christmas tickets, good company and no shortage of fun. Chilli, garlic bread, snacks and drinks are all on hand to round out the night.

SATURDAY, NOV. 29

Buffet breakfast at the St. Davids Firehall
8 to 10 a.m., St. Davids Firehall, Station 2
A simple, cozy kickoff to Saturday invites residents for coffee, pancakes and a room full of neighbours.

Photos with Santa at the St. David’s Veterinary Clinic
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., St. David’s Veterinary Clinic
Santa sits for photos — children, adults and four-legged family members all welcome. A straightforward way to check “holiday cards” off the list.

Community Initiative for Animal Rescue annual Christmas fundraiser
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 456 Line 2 Rd. (also running Sunday)
Christmas planters, wreaths and sweets, with proceeds helping the Humane Society and SPCA. A chance to shop local while supporting animals in care.

NOTL Museum launches The Mennonite Project: Coffee and Zwieback
11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum
Years of research on Mennonite history in Niagara come together for a public launch over coffee and zwieback. A quieter stop for history-minded visitors.

Christmas sing-along at the Wayside Chapel
3 p.m., Line 1 and Niagara River
Songs of the season echo through the small white chapel on the parkway. Come prepared to sing, or just listen.

SUNDAY, NOV. 30

Christmas craft show at the Legion
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124, 410 King St.
Handmade crafts, local vendors and a full afternoon to browse for stocking stuffers.

Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre annual general meeting
3 p.m., 247 Ricardo St.
Members meet for the annual general meeting and vote on business ahead. One vote per membership.

Niagara-on-the-Lake has a stack of holiday spirit waiting this weekend. Time to crack open the calendar.
