Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Treadwell Cuisine continues to garner national buzz and rave reviews from happy diners, as it finds its place among OpenTable’s year-end list of the top 100 restaurants in Canada.
Treadwell Cuisine is the only NOTL restaurant to feature on this list this year and one of three other entries from the Niagara region, including the Good Earth Vineyard and Winery in Beamsville, Rizzo’s House of Parm in Fort Erie and Vineland Estates Winery Restaurant in Vineland.
The list, featuring some of Canada’s most popular restaurants, is compiled from an analysis of more than a million diner reviews, ratings, reservation demand and percentage of five-star reviews.
At the start of the year, OpenTable put Treadwell Cuisine on its followers’ radars after selecting it and Masaki Sushi as two of Canada’s top restaurants in its healthy fine-dining list.
At Treadwell, which has been open for 18 years, father-and-son duo chef Stephen Treadwell and sommelier James Treadwell focus on farm-to-table Canadian cuisine paired with wine from vineyards across the region.
Alongside its list of the top restaurants of 2024, OpenTable shared some of its insights into how people dined in Canada this year — it noted, for example, dining is up 11 per cent from last year and more than half of Canadians plan to dine out more this year compared to the last.
“Canadians are breaking away from traditional patterns by embracing mid-week dining, which is good news for restaurants as these times can be typically quieter, as well as craving unique culinary experiences and group dining,” said Matt Davis, country director for OpenTable Canada.
“The even better news — these trends are set to continue in 2025, according to new research.”
