The Niagara Regional Police’s human trafficking unit searched a rural property on Read Road on Tuesday morning.
A large number of officers, including those from the canine, marine, street crime and emergency task units, participated in the search.
Area residents said officers spent much of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning digging on the property.
It is not known what they were looking for.
Police spokesperson Const. Phil Gavin told The Lake Report there were 15 people at the home when police arrived.
More information might be available by Thursday, Gavin said.
