Old Town was treated to many shiny, new visitors last Friday — their names might be familiar to anyone that’s a fan of luxury sports cars.
The Niagara 5000 car show saw Queen Street shut down for regular vehicle traffic on Aug. 9 and make way for dozens of big-ticket Porsches, McLarens, Austin-Healeys and other flashy automobiles.
The weather oscillated between rain and sunshine, but many still came out to Niagara-on-the-Lake’s downtown core to check out the vehicles parked up and down the street.
The street was closed for regular vehicle traffic from 1 to 5 p.m., so spectators could walk back and forth across the street to view these expensive cars, both old and new.
A sneak preview of the McLarens, which made their way in a promenade down the street during the car show, was hosted at Peller States the night before, on Aug. 8, at an opening night party.
