For those who’ve already made up their minds on who they want to represent Niagara-on-the-Lake in municipal government and at the school boards for the next four years, you’ll have a chance to cast your ballot early.
Advance voting in this year’s election is beginning in less than two weeks, with internet voting available starting Monday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. and an in-person advance poll opening on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Those interested in voting ahead of the official election day on Oct. 26 can head down to council chambers at NOTL Town Hall, 1593 Four Mile Creek Rd. in Virgil, where an advance polling station will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This will be followed by a second opportunity for in-person voting the following week, on Saturday, Oct. 17. Another advance polling station will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Simpson Room in the NOTL Community Centre, at 14 Anderson Ln.
Meanwhile, online voting will remain open from Oct. 5 to the eve of election day, Oct. 25, closing at 8 p.m. that day.
Those who want to vote online will need the following: their voter identification letter; the voting informaiton provided on their letter; a computer, tablet or mobile device; and, internet connection.
The Town of NOTL says voter identification letters are expected to arrive by mail starting the last week of September.
To vote online, voters will need to have their voter identification letter ready, visit the official internet advance voting website identified on the letter, follow the instructions provided to access the online voting system and follow on-screen instructions to complete and cast your ballot.

Anyone who didn’t receive a voter identification letter, who lost their letter or who needs to update their voter information can contact the town for assistance at 905-468-3266 or clerks@notl.com.
Anyone who misses the window to take part in advance voting (or who needs more time to decide who they’re going to elect), election day will see five polling stations set up across town, in all five settlements areas, all open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The polling stations will be at the following locations: the NOTL Community Centre gymnasium (14 Anderson Ln.), the Holiday Inn’s Inspire Room (524 York Rd.), Crossroads Public School (1350 Niagara Stone Rd.), St. Davids Public School (1344 York Rd.) and the Laura Secord House (29 Queenston St.).
