St. Catharines' youth advisory committee is hosting its youth forum at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre on May 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Young people under the age of 25 from St. Catharines are invited to discuss issues and brainstorm solutions with the committee and local community leaders that directly impact youth in the city.
“The Youth Advisory Committee is very eager to get to work and is looking forward to using feedback from their peers to implement in their events and activities,” said Koby Vanyo, the City liaison for the committee in a media release.
Mental health, addiction and homelessness are among the topics, including discussions around post-secondary pathways and “the power of the youth voice” with Brock University President Gervan Fearon.
“The youth forum gives young people in St. Catharines a voice to talk about issues that are important to them and actively engages them to make a difference in our community,” added Vanyo in the release.
High school students and post-secondary students will be participating along with youth and young adults from throughout St. Catharines.
The city is asking those interested in participating in the forum to contact their guidance office through their school, or to email, youth@stcatharines.ca.
