Friends of Fort George presentation showcases Regency fashion

Ever wondered about fashion from the Regency era?

The early 19th century was the time of famous writers like Lord Byron and Jane Austen – and it was full of immaculate clothing.

Special silks and muslins were used to create some of the finest outfits of the time period.

Some of the most frequently asked questions at Fort George are about the clothing of the time period – “Is that uniform hot?” “Why is the jacket red?” “What did Laura Secord wear on her trek?”

The Friends of Fort George is inviting people to a special online presentation on Regency fashion to answer some of these questions.

On Friday, Jan. 28 at 10:30 a.m., Abel Land, a heritage interpreter and re-enactor with the 41st Regiment of Foot, will providee a 30-minute featured talk on fashion from that era.

You'll learn about the clothing of civilians, soldiers and officers during the early 1800s.

The presentation is free for members and $5 for non-members. Email admin@friendsoffortgeorge.ca or visit friendsoffortgeorge.square.site to register.
