Niagara Health and Trillium Gift of Life Network are encouraging Niagara residents to become organ donors.
“We’re grateful for our partnership with Trillium Gift of Life Network and the lives that have been saved because of others’ decision to be a donor,” said Heather Paterson, Niagara Health’s director of clinical services, in a Niagara Health news release.
According to the release, more than 1,500 Ontarians are waiting for an organ transplant as their only treatment option, and somebody will die every three days from not getting the transplant they need.
Niagara Health said one donor can save up to eight lives while their tissue can improve the lives up to 75 more people.
