PHOTOS: Firefighters respond to three-vehicle crash

Niagara-on-the-Lake firefighters from Station 3 in Virgil were called to a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at Concession 7 and Niagara Stone Road. When they arrived, they found that one car was in the ditch while a truck was on its side in the intersection and badly damaged. Niagara EMS was already on the scene and everyone was safely out of the crashed vehicles. Firefighters used a new strut system to stabilize the flipped vehicle while they assessed the severity of a fuel leak. Chief Nick Ruller said the struts, purchased in 2020, let crews work on larger vehicles as they have a working load of up to 18,000 pounds, almost four times the capacity of the department's older system.
