People’s Party leader Maxime Bernier to attend ‘freedom’ rally Saturday in NOTL

People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier will be appearing at a rally in Niagara-on-the-Lake this Saturday, according to his official Twitter account.

The Niagara Freedom event rally will take place at noon at Brock's Monument in Queenston Heights.

Earlier in June, Bernier was arrested in Winnipeg for violating the province's COVID-19 rules while attending a rally against the  restrictions.

Bernier had already received a ticket in the province for violating public health orders.

“The continuation of the offence of violating the current public health orders in Manitoba has resulted in his arrest,” an RCMP spokesperson said about the charges.

Manitoba has recently had the worst COVID-19 infection rate per capita in the country. Its current positivity rate is 7.1 per cent per 100,000 residents.
