Falls robbery investigation leads to shooting arrest

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a Niagara Falls residence in January.

The investigation also led officers to the discovery that one of the suspects was responsible for a shooting at a St. Catharines residence on Feb. 24.

The alleged shooter is identified as Robert Collingwood, who was also wanted by Hamilton police.

Collingwood was arrested Mar. 17 and is charged with breaking and entering and committing an offence, using an imitation firearm in commission of an offence, discharging a restricted firearm inside a residence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in contravention to a prohibition order and obstructing a peace officer.

Niagara Falls resident Randy Lanteigne, was arrested Mar. 22 and charged with, robbery, breaking and entering and committing an offence, using an imitation firearm in commission of an offence, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl, crystal meth and heroin), possession of proceeds of crime, possession of a prohibited weapon.

On March 23, James Lavoie was arrested and charge with robbery, breaking and entering and committing an offence and using an imitation firearm in commission of an offence.

A fourth person, Lousie Demore, was also arrested for the alleged offence of possession for the purpose of trafficking (heroin).

Demore was released from police custody with a promise to appear in court May 2.

Collingwood, Lanteigne and Lavoie were held in custody to await bail hearings.
