Plenty to do at Niagara College Spring Open House

There will be plenty of activities to partake in when Niagara College open its doors this Saturday for its annual Spring Open House.

The day will offer those exploring post-secondary options a chance to check out school programs and facilities at the college's Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland campuses, via tours, live events, information sessions and meet-and-greets with faculty.

Activities at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus will include tastings at NC’s Teaching Brewery and Teaching Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, bread-making and charcuterie demonstrations in the recently renovated wing of the Canadian Food and Wine Institute, and a landscaping demonstration by current NC students.

At the Welland campus, there will be a demonstration a scene study in the college’s acting lab, a tour of a mock courtroom, and a chance to see construction materials being tested in the materials lab.

Plant sales will also be held at both campuses offering a variety of plants including Easter lilies and hydrangeas, and Niagara College’s Student Administrative Council will be giving out free ice cream from Marble Slab, as well as hosting a “Get Your Game On” interactive gaming room.

In addition to the events, one future student will win $3,000 towards their course tuition.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to meet students, faculty and staff, experience the remarkable facilities and services we have on campus, and get a taste for what Niagara College is all about,” said Niagara College president Dan Patterson.

A parent lounge and parent information sessions will also be available.

Parking is free during the event and advance registration is not required.

During the open house, visitors will receive a 20 per cent discount at campus stores.
