Christine Earl of Niagara-on-the-Lake took this photo Dec. 30 at 11:17 p.m. of the moon with a white ring around it. The ring is called a 22 degree or “lunar” halo, and is the result of moonlight passing through hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.
