Stratus hosts movies in vineyard

Stratus winery has launched a Cinema in the Vineyards series, combining classic films with NOTL cuisine, plus some of Niagara's top wines.

Food by chef Ryan Crawford of Ruffino's is featured on Thursdays and Kung Fu Dawg will offer its hand-made, gourmet hot dogs on weekends.

Produced in conjunction with the Niagara Artist Centre's Nomadic Cinema series, the event features “House of Cardin” on Sept. 3, chronicling the life and design of Pierre Cardin.

Director George Cukor's 1938 film “Holiday,” with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, screens Sept. 4. And “Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man” will be shown Sept. 5.

“Jazz on a Summer’s Day,” which highlights the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival and features performances by Louis Armstrong, Chuck Berry, Dinah Washington and others, will be screened Sept. 6.

The series continues Sept. 10 to 12 with more shows. All films start at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7. All shows are weather-permitting.
