UPDATE: Police have located 77-year-old Christian Snejdar, who went missing from St. Catharines Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m.
During the investigation into Snejdar's whereabouts, police learned he was registered with Project Lifesaver Niagara, a non-profit organization which helps caregivers find loved ones who have a tendency to wander off due to a cognitive ability. Those registered with Project Lifesaver Niagara wear a personalized bracelet that emits a unique tracking signal 24-hours a day.
No further information was released.
ORIGINAL: Police are seeking public assistance in locating an elderly man who went missing from St. Catharines Thursday afternoon.
Christian Snejdar, 77 was last seen in the area of 264 Oakdale Ave. at around 2 p.m.
Police said Snejdar suffers from dementia, and given the current weather conditions, they are concerned for his welfare.
Snejdar was last seen wearing a light blue winter jacket, light coloured pants, Crocs, and possibly a black toque. He is about five-foot-seven, 146-pounds and is partially bald with grey hair.
The circumstances of his disappearance were not released.
Police said Snejdar is known to frequent the downtown area of St. Catharines.
