Police board chair and vice-chair re-elected

The Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board has re-elected Regional Coun. Bob Gale to serve a fourth term as chair of the Board and has also re-elected Kenneth Gansel to serve a third term as vice-chair at its Jan. 25 meeting.

“It is a great honour to continue serving as chair of the Board,” said Gale, in a NRP release.

He said over the past year the Board has worked hard to demonstrate its ability to work through difficult issues with collaboration, consensus building and community engagement.

“It's going to be another busy year as we deal with unprecedented and far reaching legislative changes in how police services are delivered in Ontario and how Boards are to meet their oversight obligations,” said Gale.

“It will also be a year of transition for the Service as Chief MacCulloch and his executive command team work to meet the high expectations of the Board and the public to ensure that the (NRP) continues to provide the highest quality of police services to the residents of Niagara, and to achieve the highest standards of accountability and excellence in all aspects of policing in the region.”
