Town, Enbridge team up to distributecarbon monoxide and fire alarms

Niagara-on-the-Lake's fire department is teaming up with Enbridge Gas to supply new carbon monoxide alarms to residents who need them.

The town will receive 126 combination carbon monoxide and smoke alarms as part of Project Zero, a provincewide program by Enbridge Gas that hopes to bring the number of carbon monoxide related deaths down to zero.

Municipalities across Ontario have already received hundreds of devices through Project Zero.

A spokesperson for the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council wouldn't comment on details of the project in NOTL, which will be officially announced at a media launch on Nov. 25.

On Nov. 5, the City of Brampton announced the donation of 576 alarms through Project Zero, which aims to provide 9,100 devices to residents in 40 municipalities across Ontario.

Every home with a fuel burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage needs smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
