A Niagara Falls man who allegedly posted a prohibited weapon for sale on Kijiji was arrested after police arranged to meet and buy the weapon.
Police became aware of the suspicious advertisement on Friday (Dec. 12) and launched an investigation.
On Sunday at around 1 p.m., police met the seller in Niagara Falls where he sold the stun device to a member of the Niagara Regional Police.
The device is described as a Streetwise electrical stun device made to look like a flashlight. It was later found to be a functioning prohibited weapon, advertising that it delivers 9,200,000 volts.
Charged with the alleged offences of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and trafficking a prohibited weapon is 38-year-old Niagara Falls resident Shawn Gillespie.
Gillespie was released the same day on a promise to appear.
