Falls man, 26, arrested for stealing poppy boxes, and fraud

A 26-year-old Niagara Falls man was arrested on Remembrance Day for stealing poppy boxes, amongst other crimes including fraud.

Police said they were called to a local business for a report of a stolen poppy box on Nov. 9, and were called about three more similar incidents over the next two days.

On Remembrance Day, at about 3 p.m., officers responded to a hotel on Victoria Avenue near Magdalen Street for another report of theft of a poppy box that had just occurred. This time the suspect was located a short distance away on Victoria Avenue near Bender Street, and was arrested.

During his arrest, officers located stolen credit cards and stolen identification on the man.

Ronald “Brady” Watkins of no fixed address is charged four counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of identity fraud, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of a stolen credit card, and two counts of possession of stolen identity documents.ppear at a bail hearing on November 12, 2019, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
